Amelija Sorg-Taylor brings deep expertise in rail transit oversight, specializing in operations, maintenance, safety, security, and emergency preparedness. As a Senior Project Manager, she has supported numerous oversight and agency projects across the country—conducting audits, managing safety certification processes, overseeing corrective action plans, and developing standard operating procedures that directly support compliance and performance improvement.
She plays a critical role in helping State Safety Oversight Agencies (SSOAs) and transit agencies interpret and implement evolving federal safety regulations, including FTA’s Part 673 and Part 674 requirements. Amelija has supported the Hawaii, Texas, Maryland, Minnesota, Florida, Illinois, and Pennsylvania SSOAs, among others, in aligning state oversight programs with federal expectations through policy reviews, on-site audits, and programmatic recommendations.
Her portfolio also includes leading PTASP development for over 35 small agencies across Virginia and Georgia, supporting major projects safety assessments for BART, Metro Transit (MN), and Houston Metro, and delivering targeted security risk assessments for Amtrak and DRPA/PATCO.
Amelija combines regulatory fluency with strategic project management to strengthen SMS programs at each agency.
