EMMA FORBES

Senior Analyst

Emma, a former researcher of bio-inspired engineering, works with transit agencies on corrective actions, safety promotion, and continuous improvement. She assists safety agencies with field reviews, inspections, and instructional material design.

Emma supports a breadth of State Safety Oversight Agencies (SSOAs) and other oversight authorities to meet regulations from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA). While her work has a focus on automated people mover (APM) systems, she also has experience with light and heavy rail, commuter rail systems, and inclined planes.
In addition to her regular fieldwork, Emma enjoys developing technical documents and assisting specialized projects, which have included: analyzing how new regulations impact particular rail transit agencies (RTAs); planning a system-wide fire safety review; executing corrective actions from a Safety Management Inspection (SMI); researching international transit policies and advising policies on a system; and designing educational guides, safety posters, and one-sheet briefs on hazard analysis and mitigation.
