The CDC has released more detailed guidelines for transit agencies to protect employees and the public during the coronavirus pandemic. As the federal agency has learned more about how the virus functions and can be transmitted, as well as its impact on transit employees over the last two-plus months, the CDC has developed step-by-step guidance for evaluating risk and recommended actions in specific scenarios. In addition, they have created guidance for various transit employee roles, including for bus and rail operators, station workers, and maintenance workers. Finally, the CDC has included a transit decision tree, allowing transit agencies to make fact-and-risk-based decisions regarding service levels and operations on a system-by-system basis.
