FTA Releases 49 CFR Part 673: Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan Final Rule

Under 49 CFR Part 673, all transit agencies receiving Urbanized Area Formula Funding Grants from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) must implement Public Transportation Safety Plans (PTASPs) that comply with this new regulation. The PTASPs must incorporate principles and procedures of Safety Management Systems (SMS). Bus agencies that operate more than 100 buses must write their own PTASP.
