TRA personnel have worked with FDOT Central Office personnel since 2011 to standardize the safety and security oversight efforts for existing covered rail transit systems at Miami-Dade Transit (Metrorail and Metromover), Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA Skyway), and Hillsborough Area Regional Transit (HART-TECO Line Streetcar). Under the centralized program, TRA has helped to implement a formal program of in-depth and ongoing on-site audits of compliance with state and federal safety standards; performance of detailed Triennial Audits (one each, at JTA, HART, and MDT); and monitoring of open safety and security issues and related corrective actions. TRA has assisted FDOT in developing analyses of safety data and issuing reports to all covered agencies to address and correct safety issues. The result has been a much stronger relationship between all covered agencies and FDOT and timely resolution of critical safety issues.
