Throughout the pandemic that began in March, federal guidance for transit agencies has been released regularly to help organizations follow the most up-to-date science and best practices to protect both employees and riders. Now the FTA has created a COVID-19 resource tool that will be updated weekly to account for federal guidance relevant to the public transportation industry.

In addition to the FTA’s own suggestions on transit practices, the tool gathers recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to provide a complete picture of the guidance available on the federal level. These recommendations cover a wide range of topics regarding protection from the novel coronavirus, and provide a wealth of links to document developed both specifically for public transit as well as for industries handling similar volumes of people in public spaces.
