Meet Our Team: Sam Korach

How did you begin working at TRA? Who was your first client?

I started working at TRA in 2014 as an intern, and my first assignment was supporting TRA’s work for Atlanta Streetcar system testing and commissioning. I continue to work with multiple modern streetcars throughout the nation and greatly appreciate the opportunity to participate in major capital transit projects.

What do you like most about your job?

The people I work with really make the difference. It is rewarding to work with clients and stakeholders and provide safety and security assistance while being supported by TRA’s deep bench of expertise. TRA’s variety of clients allows me to work in multiple of operating environments, from monorails and automated people movers to major bus systems and traditional heavy rail transit.

What would people be surprised to know about you?

I started riding trains before I turned a year old, and have taken nearly all of Amtrak’s long distance trains in addition to railfan excursions and trains in Canada. I relocated to Florida this year and moved by Amtrak’s Auto Train.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at work?

When not working, I’m exploring my new neighborhood of West Palm Beach, enjoying the outdoors, and cooking something new in the kitchen. I also have a considerable stack of books that I’m reading over the summer, mostly on transportation and world history.

If you could travel anywhere, where would you go?

I would like to take the VIA Rail Canadian from Toronto to Vancouver through the Rocky Mountains, a multi-day excursion across the frontier.
